Super Duplex O-Ring Canal Opening Project

The project of opening an O-Ring Channel with Mobil Engineering to the pump body connection flange of two vertical shaft centrifugal pumps with a water pumping capacity of 250.000 m³ per hour. Pump body connection flange material is super duplex stainless steel.

Classical Method

Since the body connection flange was integral with the lower body, it was necessary to break the concrete and disassemble the pump body and open the O-Ring channel by machining outside. Then the pump connection bodies would be placed again, concrete poured and assembly would be made. This method would cause loss of production of the Power Plant for a long time.

In the first place, the engine and connection bridge were removed. It was downloaded safely. Later, the fan and front group were removed and gathered outside. Shaft and shaft bearings were checked and maintained.

Mobile Engineering

With the machine we designed specifically for the project, the O-Ring Channel was opened to the pump body connection flange in the concrete without breaking the concrete and the damage of sea water to the concrete was prevented. After this operation, the pump was assembled and operations were repeated for the second pump. We successfully completed the project in a shorter time than anticipated. The Power Plant continued to operate without losing production time
